Review on My is Lisa
My name is Lisa is a short film about a 13 year old girl that deals with her day to day life with a single mum that has Alzheimer’s. The short film is directed by Ben and Josh Shelton. At the beginning of the short film it does subtle hints to show that the mum has Alzheimer’s disease, but you don’t find out until later in the short film that she does have Alzheimer’s.
You first start to realise that her mum has Alzheimer’s when she finds her in the car just sitting there when she is coming home from school and she doesn’t know why she is sitting there. The film is shot with the girl making a video log and her mother buts in making comments that get stranger each time. The use of video logs makes it easier to understand the narrative because the girl is explaining what is happening and you can always see her expressions because she is right in front of the camera.
The narrative makes you feel sorry for Lisa as you progress through the film because she has to cope with her mothers illness day to day. The scene where her mother doesn’t even remember who she is and tells her to get away from her house.
Ad Analysis
Deconstruction of Nike poster
In the poster straight away you can tell it is aimed towards a male audience. The black and the lime green are “manly” colours. If the colour pink was used it wouldn’t catch a mans attention he would just think it is an advert targeted towards a female audience but the use of green and black draws his attention to the advert.
Having low lighting hides his disability, when you first look at this advert you see a masculine man and not a disabled man. The lighting used shows off the mans muscles this gives him a good representation to show he is masculine.
The black background makes the man the vocal point of the advert. The shot is taken from the front left of the man to show off his muscles.
At first glance you don’t see that the man is disabled the way the shot has been taken and the lightning draws your eye towards his upper body and not towards his legs.
The use of the black background makes the logo and slogan stand out to make you recognise the brand that is being advertised. The logo also draws your eye to notice that the man has a disability.
The use of the white background on the text makes it stand out more than just using white writing this draws your eye to read what is being said on the advert.
Compared to the female Reebok advert you can see that they are both targeted towards a different audience the use of the female character in the Reebok advert shows that it is targeted towards a female audience. In both of the adverts the logo stands out because is isn’t surrounded by anything and has nothing drawing your eye away from it.
