Review on my name is Lisa

My name is Lisa is a short film about a 13 year old girl that deals with her day to day life with a single mum that has Alzheimer’s. The short film is directed by Ben and Josh Shelton. At the beginning of the short film it does subtle hints to show that the mum has Alzheimer’s disease, but you don’t find out until later in the short film that she does have Alzheimer’s.
You first start to realise that her mum has Alzheimer’s when she finds her in the car just sitting there when she is coming home from school and she doesn’t know why she is sitting there. The film is shot with the girl making a video log and her mother buts in making comments that get stranger each time. The use of video logs makes it easier to understand the narrative because the girl is explaining what is happening and you can always see her expressions because she is right in front of the camera.
The narrative makes you feel sorry for Lisa as you progress through the film because she has to cope with her mothers illness day to day. The scene where her mother doesn’t even remember who she is and tells her to get away from her house.
